Job Description

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all aspects of project cost planning, estimation, and contract administration to ensure that construction projects are delivered within approved budgets and in accordance with contractual and regulatory requirements.

Continuing Essential Functions

As a quantity surveyor, you will need to:

  • Prepare tender documents, budgets, contract documentation, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) in collaboration with Architects, Project Managers, Site Engineers, Site Managers, and Employers.
  • Prepare and analyze costings for tenders.
  • Undertake feasibility studies and assist in establishing client requirements.
  • Conduct cost analysis for repair and maintenance works.
  • Forecast and price materials required for projects.
  • Perform risk management, value engineering, and cost control functions.
  • Identify, analyze, and develop responses to commercial risks.
  • Track design and construction changes and adjust budget projections accordingly.
  • Provide advice on contractual claims and dispute matters.
  • Maintain awareness of different building contracts currently in use.
  • Ensure compliance with construction law and relevant regulations.
  • Measure and value completed works on site.
  • Prepare interim valuations and final accounts.
  • Advise on maintenance costs of buildings and long-term financial implications.
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer or his designate

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Engineering, Management, or related field
  • At least 6 of general construction estimating experience, financial experience, construction experience, or related field
  • A member of NIQS or other professional industry regulatory body
  • Experience in project management, process redesign, and analytical skills are all valuable.
